Sarah Day

Hi there, I’m Sarah.

As a copywriter, I spend most days:

Auckland copywriter

Drinking copious amounts of black coffee

Running around after my two-year-old son Ollie

Writing powerful website copy and unforgettable blog posts

I live in Tindalls Beach, Auckland, but I write copy for businesses throughout New Zealand and Australia.

How did I become a copywriter?

Fresh out of university, with a marketing degree and publishing diploma under my belt, I took off with my partner (now husband) Adrian on the classic Kiwi OE. We spent six months adventuring around Europe in a campervan before settling down in Australia for a few years.

I kicked off my career while living in Melbourne, with an in-house marketing role at one of Australia’s largest retailers. Adrian and I had an incredible time eating and drinking our way around Melbourne each weekend, sampling some of the world’s best long blacks and craft beer. But like most Kiwis, we were eventually tempted back home by friends, family and feijoas.

At first, I used my skills and experience to help clients with all aspects of marketing, from copywriting to social media management and PR.

So I took a step back from social media management and PR, choosing to focus on what I do best: copywriting.

We returned to Auckland and I landed a role at one of New Zealand’s leading PR agencies, where I dreamt up and managed successful campaigns for clients like Kmart, Freedom Furniture, Cadbury and Moa Brewing Co.

After a few years in business, I realised that copywriting was the work I loved most. Clients were coming back time and time again for my writing skills, always over the moon with the way I translated their jumbled thoughts into clear, compelling website copy and blog posts.

In 2017, a couple of freelance opportunities popped up. I didn’t have enough capacity to tackle these projects while working full-time, so I decided to leave my agency role and take the leap into self-employment.

What to expect when working with me:

I’m a little bit of an introvert, but I like things done properly and I don’t dilly dally when it comes to getting there. I’m not afraid to chase you up as needed to keep everything on track and I won’t hesitate to clarify if I need more information.

I provide a streamlined, no-nonsense service. I won’t ask you to spend money on documents you probably won’t use, like brand strategies and tone of voice guides. Instead, I carry out a thorough briefing process and then get straight to work, writing the copy and content you need for your website.

You can expect clear communication and quick responses from me throughout the entire process. I promise not to drop the ball once you’ve signed on the dotted line and paid your deposit.
